Rs 50 Petrol and 10% Food Discount in Pune to Boost Voter Turnout

Pune, November 12, 2024 Organisations in Pune are working together to increase voter turnout in Maharashtra elections on November 20. Local groups, businesses and community leaders are offering discounts and activities to increase turnout.

Major incentives are planned for voters. The Pune Petrol Dealers Association is offering a discount of 50 rupees on motor oil. This is a welcome incentive for voters who go to vote at 900 petrol stations in the city.

Food discounts are also part of the campaign. Voters will get a 10 per cent discount at 550 restaurants and hotels of the Pune Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association on polling day. The 74 hotels of the Pune Hotels Association are also offering this discount to encourage voters to eat out after the election.

Community involvement is high. CREDAI Pune Metro, representing 500 companies and 50,000 employees, is promoting voter awareness. Art of Living, a leading social media company, wants 40 lakh residents of Maharashtra to vote.

Senior citizens’ groups, women’s clubs and housing societies are joining in. The Pune District Housing Society and Apartment Federation, which oversees 25,000 housing societies, has appointed “co-operation buddies” to encourage voting.

The groups in Pune are not only providing discounts at polling stations, but also creating excitement. Selfie points, “war rooms” at society level and poster competitions make voting fun for everyone.

The aim is to overcome voter apathy in Pune. These offerings encourage citizens to participate in democracy and turn the election into a civic celebration.
