Pune: Two Arrested in Donje Kidnapping-Murder Case; Third Suspect Escapes

Three men are accused of kidnapping Vitthal Polekar, a 65-year-old contractor and deputy sarpanch of Donje village in Pune. Two of the suspects were arrested in Madhya Pradesh.

Police arrested Subham Sonwane, 24, and Milind Thorat, 25, from a train in Jabalpur on Saturday. The Pune police provided information that led to their arrest, according to Balram Yadav, the Jabalpur GRP station chief.

The police believe these two suspects and their partner may have killed Polekar. The third suspect, Yogesh Bhame, who lives in Donje village, escaped the police.

Sonawane and Thorat live in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. They are wanted for the kidnapping and possible murder of Polekar. The Pune police filed a case about this incident.

Polekar was taken two days ago. His family told the police that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore. Some body parts linked to the case have been found near a village by the Panshet dam.

The police will perform a DNA test to see if the remains belong to Polekar. They tracked the two arrested men to Jabalpur, where they were trying to escape to Nepal.

Police have already arrested another suspect named Rohit Bhame in connection with this case. The police suspect that past conflicts may have led to the kidnapping and murder.
