A man, 59, was sentenced to 25 years in jail for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter in 2018. He was convicted under the POCSO Act by judge KP Kshirsagar.

The judge also ordered the convict to pay a fine of ₹10,000, or face one month of simple imprisonment if he fails to pay.

The accused was arrested on October 5, 2018, after being charged under various sections of the IPC and POCSO Act at Lonikand police station.

The victim, who suffered physical and mental trauma, is entitled to compensation under the law. The court recommended the Pune District Legal Services Authority to determine the appropriate compensation amount.

The special public prosecutor argued for maximum punishment, stating that the accused’s age and heinous crime leave no room for leniency.
