D Ancila came home to find out her husband’s ship, MV Dali, had collided with the Baltimore bridge. Her husband, Dominic Dobus Peeris, was safe on board.

Peeris and his crew were shocked by the incident, which happened while many were resting. The ship lost power and struck the bridge, causing it to collapse.

Six workers on the bridge died, but no one on the ship was seriously injured. Selva Kumar, a seaman, got minor injuries. The crew stayed on board during salvage operations.

The crew received support from their company and the Indian embassy. They were praised for issuing a Mayday warning, saving lives. They felt positive about their actions.

In June, 11 crew members returned home, while others stayed in the US for investigations. The ship underwent repairs in China. The crew members are ready to move on from the incident.
